Welcome to IHM School

Providing a quality, Catholic Christian education to children of North Carolina's Triad since 1947.

Stars are born everyIHM Students day at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School. Some excel in the classroom or on the basketball court; others stand out in the chess club or the Christmas musical. Each radiates love through service projects and simple acts of kindness. Founded in 1947, High Point's only Catholic school educates students in kindergarten through eighth grade who consistently shine, as they reflect the light of Jesus in the community and beyond.

Message From Wanda C. Garrett, Principal

Welcome to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School's Web site! The following pages will give you just a glimpse of what we are all about here at IHM. We hope you'll use all your senses as you learn more about the family and school community we call IHM.

As you browse through our website you will have the opportunity to:

  • See smiling children and adults who are happy to be a part of the IHM family, enjoying the varied and diverse programs and opportunities we offer.
  • Hear the joy of celebration through liturgies, assemblies, the success of a classmate, sporting events, First Eucharist and Confirmation, inspiring teachers and dedicated parents, as well as the chant led by our pastor: "We are family!"
  • Touch the hand that reaches out to welcome you with warm hospitality, the newly hatched chicks in the science room, the numerous class projects for our spring auction, and the body of Christ in Eucharist that unites us as one.
  • Smell the aroma of homemade apple-spice cookies as the kindergarten class celebrates Johnny Appleseed Week, the fresh flowers presented to our Blessed Mother at our May Crowning, and the Thanksgiving Luncheon being prepared as we share the virtue of gratitude as a school family.
  • Taste treats prepared by our sixth grade to celebrate their ancestry, a special cookie or cupcake in celebration of a student birthday or fresh grilled hamburgers at our back-to-school picnic. As the psalmist says, "Taste and see that the Lord is good."

We would love to have you visit our campus in High Point, North Carolina, to show you in person who we are and what we do. Feel free to contact us for more information or to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to meeting you face to face!

Message From the Priest

Welcome to the Web site of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School. Immaculate Heart of Mary is a parish community dedicated to celebrating Jesus Christ in Eucharist. As a worshipping community we offer an abundance of opportunities to serve Christ by serving one another. One of the principle ministries of the parish community is its school.

Immaculate Heart of Mary has a long tradition of offering the very best in Catholic education to the children of the parish and the community of the Triad. We accept students no matter what their religious preference.

In the spirit of St. Francis DeSales, the students indeed "Live Jesus" as their motto. It is a hallmark of the students of Immaculate Heart of Mary to celebrate together as a family - a family dedicated to the Good News of Jesus Christ.

As you browse this Web site may you feel something akin to the sheer joy and enthusiasm that I am privileged to experience when I encounter the students, teachers, and staff of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School.

Rev. John J. Kelly, O.S.F.S.
Pastor
