Student Life

Behind our commitment to provide a high-quality academic experience is something much deeper: a passion for shaping young lives and educating the whole person. IHM offers a wide variety of in-school and extracurricular activities for all grade levels as part of a well-rounded education. There is something for everybody and we encourage our students to get involved. Activities may change from year-to-year, and are offered to enrich our students’ interests, physical abilities, and God-given talents. We believe this provides for a well-rounded experience and the best environment for our students to grow and strive to become the best versions of themselves.

Prayer Partner Program

As a part of our mission to foster a strong sense of community and also to educate the whole child, we offer our Prayer Partner Program. A beloved tradition in which older students are paired with our younger students, giving them the opportunity to pray, play and learn together! The Prayer Partner Program helps our little ones feel more comfortable and confident at school and it allows our older students to step into the role of mentor and leader, taking on the responsibility to guide their prayer partner throughout the school year.

House Program

Each IHM student (and faculty member) is assigned to one of four Houses – Fatima, Guadalupe, Lourdes and Medjugorje. These mixed-grade House groups allow older students to form leadership skills and gain experience in mentoring. Younger students benefit from the experience and encouragement of students in higher grades.

Each school year begins with a school-wide Sorting Day when new students are assigned to their respective Houses. Throughout the school year, camaraderie and competition are celebrated as students participate and cheer on their ‘Housemates’ in House based activities which vary from athletic competitions, outreach collections, and service opportunities. These opportunities provide students the ability to grow in friendship both in and outside the classroom.

Outside the Classroom

Whether it is sports, music, academics, social or service, there are many opportunities for students to explore their interests. Though not all-inclusive, the list below provides an overview of some of the major school activities. Additional activities are publicized in our weekly newsletter.
